How old was your child when they finally learned this? Did you try any specific steps—like following advice or practicing—or did they learn on their own? We try to model the behavior for our son and show him what to do, but so far nothing has worked. My older daughter never had this issue; I assumed it was a natural reflex. My son is 2½ years old and has hurt his lip many times, and now one of his teeth is displaced. Next week we'll find out whether it needs to be removed... I'm quite worried and would be very grateful for any stories or tips if you've dealt with this. (((
