My son is six months old. He used to have difficulty nursing, and his latch was unstable. About a week before turning six months, he started wriggling near the breast, whimpering, and not latching on. He did eat before bedtime, though. Two days ago, his lower teeth started to come through, and he began refusing the breast altogether. He is cheerful and sleeps well. He only nurses for a short time, taking only foremilk, then becomes upset. I give him a pacifier and he falls asleep right away. If I remove the pacifier and try to nurse again, he wakes up and cries. He nurses only at night. I bring my breast toward him, but not for long. I don’t understand what’s happening. Is this something to do with the teeth? Could he be hungry?
