Hi everyone, could you please share your experiences? My daughter is between 2 and 3 years old and speaks very little. She says words like 'mama', 'come', 'yum', 'there', 'yes', 'no'. But we understand everything—really everything. For example, when asked to bring something, she brings it; when I show her something, she points to it or shows it; she knows animal sounds; we look at books and pictures, and I ask 'Who is this?' She makes the sound and points to where it is, but she doesn't say who or what it is. Even when it comes to food, she gestures what she wants. She uses an index-finger pointing gesture, and that is fine. And when I tell her to say what this is (for example, 'cow'), she stays silent, but she makes a 'moo' sound. I simply don't understand— is this normal? Why doesn't she say it even though she understands everything?
