Pregnancy Calendar at Week 32

Mommy, hello!

We're now 32 weeks pregnant, and I can't help but think my bump is glowing with a beautiful shine! 🌸 I'm already 42.5 centimeters and carrying around 1.85 kilograms — such a big and lively little one!
All my organs are settling into their new spots, even though there's still a few quirks — like those weird Braxton Hicks contractions and that oval-shaped window that helps keep my blood circulating properly. They disappear once I get my first big burst of energy outside. And on top of that, my body is busy building immune cells to fight off pesky microbes and stay strong! 💪
I love touching my belly and thinking of you, knowing you're close — even though I feel you gently moving inside me. Your voice and heartbeat are my favorite soothing rhythms, and I'm so happy you're my little mama. Thank you for caring about me and making my world so warm! 💖
Keep squeezing me gently,
Your little bump 🌸✨

What Happens to You

During the 32nd week of pregnancy, your body actively prepares for labor. Changes in your endocrine system and internal organs may cause various sensations in future moms.

Increasing Baby’s Size

In the 32nd week, your pregnancy becomes noticeably larger as your baby’s growth reaches 40 centimeters or more. As a result, your skin on your front belly wall may become dry and stretch with stretch marks. These stripes can also appear on your hips and breasts. To prevent their appearance, it’s recommended to regularly use gels and creams against stretch marks, and also keep your skin moisturized.

Pelvic Discomfort

In the third trimester, women often experience pelvic discomfort and feeling of the baby’s movement. These sensations are usually diffuse. This discomfort can be caused by increased weight and stress on the pelvic bones. As the weight increases faster or the fetus’s position changes, pain intensity in the lumbar spine can also worsen. If it becomes painful, consult a gynecologist.

Pain in Lower Back and Legs

In the 32nd week, pregnancy can cause pain in the lower back and legs that are quite widespread. These feelings may also be triggered by increased blood pressure levels, which should be checked regularly, especially at the doctor. Such symptoms can also indicate signs of infection in the urinary system.

Increased Urgency to Urinate

With increasing pregnancy, the frequency of urination and the feeling of bladder fullness can become more intense, especially during the night. To improve sleep quality, it is recommended to take a short walk in fresh air, listen to calming music, relax in a bath, and try other relaxation methods. It’s important not to hide your anxieties and fears; discuss them with your partner, friends, psychologist, or doctor. In the hospital, a perinatal psychologist often works to help manage anxiety in pregnant women.

Sleep Disorders and Other Disruptions

As the pregnancy progresses, increased activity in the uterus can cause certain problems with digestion, such as heartburn or diarrhea. Hormonal changes during pregnancy can slow down the stomach's emptying, which can lead to acid reflux. These symptoms may also point to gastroesophageal reflux, which should be checked by a doctor. Such issues often indicate infections or inflammations of the gastrointestinal tract.

Analyses

  • Regularly check your weight and arterial blood pressure. It is recommended to do these measurements weekly and keep a diary of blood pressure in the blood vessels.
  • Ultrasound at 32-34 weeks is the third ultrasound screening. Its purpose is to determine the baby’s position in the womb and to exclude pathological changes in placental tissue. If the weight gain is rapid or the blood pressure changes, consult a doctor. Such phenomena can indicate infections related to water-salt balance or inflammatory processes.

Labor Difficulties

At the 32nd week, the risk of developing gestational pathologies decreases. However, certain conditions may still arise:

Placental Insufficiency

This pathology involves reduced blood flow in the placenta, leading to decreased oxygen and nutrients reaching the baby. Proper nutrition by the mother and a comprehensive treatment are essential. Excessive weight gain can also be a cause of placental insufficiency, which contributes to various neural, cardiovascular, and fetal-inflammatory issues. In the event of such symptoms, seek medical help immediately.

Risk of Premature Birth

  • Attend fetal mass. Consult experienced doctors about pregnancy;
  • Continue physical training, avoiding heavy and intensive loads. Work under the supervision of a trainer;
  • Breathe fresh air for 2-3 hours a day. Evening walks improve sleep quality and help prevent insomnia;
  • Sleep at least 8 hours per night;
  • Choose your sleeping position with minimal pressure on the abdomen. Avoid excessive consumption of fruits, nuts, and oily fish. Proper nutrition supports the body and is necessary for the development of the fetus; excessive weight gain can lead to preeclampsia, which manifests as various neurological disturbances. If there is preeclampsia, it requires complex treatment.
  • Do not lift heavy objects and avoid intense physical activity.

Vessels

Venous congestion can appear due to edema and increased arterial blood pressure. Blood tests reveal proteins and increased arterial blood pressure. In case of such symptoms, it’s essential to see a doctor for diagnosis and treatment.

What NOT to do During Pregnancy:

  • Avoid smoking, alcohol, and drugs.
  • Do not take medications or dietary supplements on your own. Many medications are contraindicated during pregnancy and should only be prescribed by a doctor.

Helpful Tips

During the 32nd week of pregnancy, it's a great idea to set up your baby's nursery and gather all the essentials you'll need for your little one. If there’s anything you’re missing, it’s better to grab it now so you won’t be caught off guard later.

Is it safe to get pregnant at 32 weeks?

  • If you're pregnant at 32 weeks, there's a pretty good chance you'll have a healthy pregnancy—about 95%! And even in cases of teenage and early pregnancies, the outlook tends to be quite positive.

How do we understand where the baby is headed around week 32?

  • Basically, your baby is turning upside down, and their patterns are shifting between deep and lighter sleep—much like what you see in newborns. This movement can make you feel more kicks under your ribs, and you might notice some pressure in the lower part of your belly and around the sides, as the baby settles into a position with one side pressed against your abdomen.

How long do babies sleep around week 32?

  • According to research, around 32 weeks, your baby spends a lot more time sleeping during the day. Their sleep patterns during this stage involve alternating between deep and light sleep, much like infants. You might notice longer periods of rest and wakefulness, similar to a tiny nap cycle.

Why does my 32-week baby move so much?

  • Your baby's muscles strengthen over time, making their movements more forceful. When they wake up and turn, you might feel some discomfort or even pain. The discomfort can be constant—like a dull ache or a dulling pain. This is entirely normal when they settle into a position with one side pressed against your belly.

Are 32-week babies considered premature?

  • Yes. Babies born at 32 weeks are considered moderately preterm. These babies aren’t fully developed yet and often require specialized care in neonatal intensive care units. Their growth might be slow, and they can face some health issues, including weaker and uncoordinated breathing muscles, which could affect their ability to breathe efficiently.
